The return should be the invoices, not a second typing of them. This desk posts sales and purchases at 5% or 18%, then shows output tax, input credit, and the difference on the same numbers.

What this usually fixes
The invoice and the return are typed twice.
A bill is made in one place. Someone keys it again for the return. The two totals drift, and the drift is found after filing.
An old 12% slab is still on a bill.
The 12% GST slab was removed in September 2025. A sample that still bills at 12% teaches the wrong return.
TDS sits in a separate diary.
Rent and a contract payment have been deducted. The challan is not made. The due date is a memory.
What the desk holds
Sales and purchases at current slabs
The sample invoices use 5% or 18%. Made-ups that used to sit at 12% are at 5%. The dyeing job-work bill is at 18%. CGST and SGST split from that rate.
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B from the same book
Outward taxable value, output tax, input credit, and payable are calculated from the posted rows. The payable figure matches that arithmetic.
A row that still needs a look
One sales invoice is marked review when the HSN should be checked before anyone treats it as final.
TDS not yet deposited
Section, rate, and the tax amount, with the date the challan is due. Nothing is filed from this sample.
How a build usually starts
01
Start from the invoices you already issue
HSN, rate, and whether the supply is 5% or 18%. We do not pick a slab to make the screen look busy.
02
Post a month and read the payable
Output minus input credit, from those invoices. If the figure is not the one your CA expects, the invoices are wrong and we fix those.
03
Export when the month agrees
A Tally file or a sheet for the return comes after a month ties out. This page does not file anything on the GST portal.
Questions before a demo
Why is there no 12% invoice on this desk?
The 12% GST slab was removed from 22 September 2025. The sample uses 5% or 18%, and the tax on each row is that rate times the taxable value.
Does the GST payable match the invoices?
Yes. Output tax is the tax on the sales rows. Input credit is the tax on the purchase rows. Payable is the difference. The home figure uses that same sum.
Will this file my GSTR-3B?
The sample can mark a return ready. It does not log in to the GST portal and it does not file. Filing stays with you or your CA.
Is the profit figure a promise?
No. It is sales minus the expenses on this sample book, so you can see the arithmetic. It is not a result from a client.
